Madrid Party ends with Death of Three Women

A party on Halloween held at an events center in Madrid, Spain turned deadly early November 1. Partygoers were attending a Halloween party at the Madrid Arena in west Madrid near an area referred to as Casa de Campo.

The party was Thriller Music Park and was hosted by a well known DJ named Steve Aoki. The party featured a Halloween contest that paid out a first prize of $3,800 and went to the group of people that were had the best costumes depicting characters from the Thriller video made by the late Michael Jackson.

At around 4:00 am someone threw fireworks into the crowd at the party and created uncontrollable panic. Attendees started to run towards the exits, but some of them had been sealed shut and only one was left open. This created more panic and chaos.

Screaming started and people started to be stuck in the exit as security guards attempted to pull people through the doorway. Emergency workers arrived and started to pull partygoers out and eventually authorities were able to bring calm.

However, five women were trampled in the incident and all five were unconscious when paramedics arrived. Two died at the arena while another died upon arrival at a hospital nearby. The other two women were admitted to the hospital and are currently in critical condition. Two women who died were eighteen years of age and one was twenty-five.

Authorities are investigating the incident to see if all security procedures had been followed and to see if there was an over capacity at the event.
