One of Apple’s senior executives has said that Steve Jobs the founder of Apple was willing to have the company design a smaller tablet, says an email that was revealed this Friday. Rumors are that a mini-version of the 10-inch iPad will be made available soon to counter the competition that is starting to make dents in the armor of Apple in the tablet industry. However, no one at Apple has confirmed that a mini is in the works.
Eddy Cue a vice president of Apple urged Tim Cook, the then COO in January of 2011 to build the 7-inch tablet per an email from Cue that was presented by Samsung as evidence in a patent trial taking place in the U.S.
In addition, in another email that was sent to Scott Forstall the software chief at Apple and Phil Schiller the marketing head, Cue expressed his belief that there existed a market for the 7-inch tablet and one should be launched.
The email from Cue said he had tested books, emails, video and Facebook on the 7-inch tablet and they all were compelling. Cue said the only weak point was browsing the web.
Apple has accused Samsung of robbing its designs and other features of both its iPhone and iPad. It is asking for billions of dollars to be paid in damages and a ban on sales for the Samsung products in question.
