Galaxy Mini S4 unveiled by Samsung

South Korea based Samsung Electronics announced its new smartphone, the Galaxy mini S4, which has a better camera and larger screen than the Galaxy S3 mini, its predecessor.

The latest introduction of the smaller version of the company’s flagship Galaxy S4 is the normal course of business for the electronics giant, which traditionally tries to use the hype of its flagship products.

The new compact version arrives less than 12 months after Samsung announced last October the Galaxy S3 mini.

The new S4 mini has a screen that is 4.3 inches with a resolution in pixels of 960×540. It is powered by a dual-core 1.76 GHz processor and has a camera with 8-megapixels, 1.5 GB of RAM and integrated storage of 8GB.

Its predecessor, the S3 mini, has only a 4-inch screen, resolution of 800×480 and is powered up by a 1 GHz dual core processor. The camera on the S3 mini has 5-megapixel and has storage capabilities of either 8 GB or 16GB.

Samsung ran into controversy about storage in the UK over its Galaxy S3. The company had to announce that only 5GB of storage could be accessed on the S3 mini by users.

The fact Samsung skimps on the amount of storage should make users think twice since it makes its own memory products. However, Sony just released its Xperia XR and it too has just 8GB. Both of the smartphones have a card slot of microSD to expand the capacity of storage.

The S4 mini operates on the 4.2.2. version of Android just as its bigger version does.
