A man taken into custody last week, who has been accused of threatening a former co-worker, might be held an entire week in a hospital. Police also found a cache of arms in his home. He might remain under custody in the hospital until authorities make a decision on whether or not to charge him.
Neil Edwin Prescott who is 28 is being held at Anne Arundel Hospital involuntarily for evaluation. Police took him into custody last Friday and are able to keep him an entire week before charging or releasing him.
Legal observers questioned that no criminal charges have been placed in a case that is so high-profile. Police apprehended him at his apartment on Friday after a former supervisor told police Prescott made repeated threats via the telephone. The search warrant application said Prescott wanted to see the brain of the supervisor splattered on the sidewalk and said he was a joker and would start loading his arsenal.
Attempts to reach family members of Prescott have all been unsuccessful. No one is sure if he has hired an attorney. He still has not been charged and according to the application for the search warrant, he had over 13 guns registered.
Some defense attorneys said they were surprised Prescott has not been charged, while others said the state just wanted to build their case while the law gave them the time to do so.
