Problems in the offseason for the Indianapolis Colts continued on Thursday when the NFL handed down a suspension of eight games to Weslye Saunders the Colts tight end. The violation by Saunders was his second one regarding the league’s policy against performance enhancing drugs.
Previous to Thursday’s suspension, LaVon Brazill, the second year Colts wide receiver was given a four game suspension for his violation, also his second for substance abuse.
Joe Lefefed, the Colts third year safety was arrested for gun-related charges following a traffic stop, while he was in Washington, D.C. That case is pending.
He appeared in six of the Colts games catching two passes. He will be entering just his third season in the NFL and spoke about the mistake he made with Pittsburgh after being signed by the Colts.
He said it was unfortunate and led to him being cut. He said he had made a mistake.
Saunders can now participate through preseason, but due to the severity of his PED suspension, he might lose his roster spot since he is only a reserve player.
This offseason has seen a number of players in the news due to problems with the law that has not been helpful to the image of the league.
