Why it matters

The quarter showed better earnings and a cleaner credit picture. Loans 0-60 days past due fell to 18.9% from 20.0% a year earlier. Loans 61 days or more past due fell to 5.4% from 5.8%.

OptimistFi's case is that WRLD can be a cash-generative niche lender if underwriting and collections stay disciplined. This release helps that case on profit, revenue and delinquency, but it does not remove the credit risk.

Annualized net charge-offs were still 17.6% in the quarter, up from 17.1% a year earlier. The company said it tightened underwriting for new customers at the end of the prior fiscal year and has since loosened it gradually. That change showed up in the loan mix. Borrowing by existing customers rose from a year earlier, while borrowing by new customers declined.

Gross loans outstanding were $1.32 billion, up 0.3% from $1.31 billion a year earlier, and the company had 1,009 open branches at quarter-end. Interest and fee income rose 3.6% to $123.3 million, while insurance income slipped to $11.6 million. General and administrative expenses fell to $69.9 million from $72.0 million, and interest expense dropped to $11.7 million from $14.3 million.

The company also said debt to equity was 1.7:1 and debt outstanding was $592.1 million at September 30, 2026. World Acceptance said it had about $25.0 million of remaining repurchase capacity under the current program and $47.5 million under the revolving credit facility, subject to further board approval.
