Allegiant (NASDAQ: ALGT) lines up six Boeing jets for more than $720 million

What happened

Allegiant Travel Company (NASDAQ: ALGT) said Allegiant Air, LLC exercised the first six options under its Boeing purchase agreement. The supplemental agreements call for six 737-8 aircraft due in 2028. After that move, Allegiant has 56 firm aircraft under the agreement, 22 delivered through October 23, 2026, and 74 options left. The list price of the six jets is more than $720 million, before discounts and price escalations through delivery.

Anderson will continue as chief executive officer with a $750,000 annual base salary, a target cash bonus of 180% of salary and a target stock grant of 300%. Neal will continue as president and chief financial officer with a $525,000 annual base salary and target cash and stock awards of 150% and 225%.

Wells will continue as executive vice president and chief commercial officer with a $475,000 annual base salary and target cash and stock awards of 125% and 195%. Hollingsworth will continue as executive vice president and chief operating officer with the same pay and target award mix.

Why it matters

OptimistFi's case is that Allegiant is a margin-recovery bet on a differentiated small-city leisure airline model, not a simple revenue-growth story. This filing is mixed for that view. It adds fleet commitment, but the final purchase economics are still open. Using the filing's figures, 34 firm aircraft remain to be delivered after the 22 already delivered.

The 2028 delivery schedule matters because it shows how quickly the fleet plan can keep moving. The new employment agreements also reset executive pay through the end of 2029 and keep the named leaders in place. Their bonus and grant targets tie more pay to annual results. The filing says the list price can change with discounts and price escalations through delivery, so the final cost is not fixed.

What's next

The six 737-8 aircraft are scheduled for delivery in 2028. If those deliveries arrive on time and the economics stay within the filing's range, the fleet buildout supports the case.

If pricing rises before delivery, the same order could use more cash and help margins less. The new agreements also run through 2029, so investors can track delivery progress against executive retention and pay terms.
