Saralegui appearing in ads directed towards Hispanics

Cristina Saralegui is known by many as the “Hispanic Oprah” and she will be helping President Barack Obama with a television ad geared towards the Spanish speaking voters. The ad appears on television in Nevada and starts on Friday September 14 in the Las Vegas and Reno markets, said Obama’s campaign.

In June, the talk show host born in Cuba endorsed Obama for his November re-election. In the new ad, Saralegui says it is important to vote for Obama and not his challenger Mitt Romney. She says a great deal of the economic mess was inherited by Obama from the previous administration in 2009 and that Obama is slowly turning the country around.

She said that the country was near disaster when Obama took office for his first term in January of 2009. The ad shows businesses closed and homes in foreclosure, while she speaks. She tells the listener that the Republican president in office prior to Obama had policies that were disastrous and Obama was able to put a stop to the economic crisis and turn the country around.

The ad also shows President Obama hugging a factory worker on the factory floor of a plant that assembles cars, highlighting the help the president gave to save the auto industry. The talk show host continues in the ad by saying that the Romney/Ryan ticket wants the country to return to policies that helped put the country into the financial crisis it is slowly recovering from.

She said no one wants to go back to the future, but forward with President Obama. She finishes the ads giving the viewer a thumbs up signal. As the ad ends, Obama speaking in Spanish says he approved the advertisement.

Hispanics make up over 26% of the voters in Nevada and are an influential and growing group in the state.
