President Barack Obama is in Williamsburg, Virginia for three days of preparations for the second debate against Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney. For three days, Obama will prep for the debate and members of Obama’s campaign suggested that the president would be more aggressive in his tone during Tuesday’s debate with Romney.
A spokesperson for Obama said that the former governor of Massachusetts has been selling himself and things his entire life and knows what to say and how to say what people want to hear.
The spokesperson also said that Paul Ryan, the vice presidential running mate for Romney left Romney vulnerable on many issues including admitting there would be a $5 trillion tax cut, after first denying it and not explaining clearly how they intended pay for the cuts. In addition, they did not give specific plans on how they intended to wind down the military presence of the U.S. in Afghanistan.
Axelrod said that the Obama campaign expects Romney to have another good debate, as he is a good salesman.
During the first debate, President Obama’s effort was considered lackluster even by his own supporters and many feel the preparations for the second debate are very critical, as Democrats feel Romney’s momentum must be slowed.
The White House considers the performance of Vice President Joe Biden in last week’s debate to have helped the campaign and that Biden was better at explaining the agenda of the administration than Obama had been in the first debate.
