Winter Wedding Venues

Many people don’t want to have their wedding in the winter, but those who are open to the idea tend to have many more options than those who plan weddings in the spring and summer months, simply because there is not as much competition for wedding venues, flowers, bands, etc. Are you looking for a venue for your winter wedding? Here are a few options you may want to consider:

If getting married during the holiday season, you may save on the cost of decorations by getting married inside a beautiful old church, as many churches go all out with decorations including: wreaths; poinsettias; evergreen trees; holly; garland; etc. A church can be a beautiful setting to get married in during the winter.

If you’re planning on having a smaller affair, it may be preferable to hold your wedding in a quaint bed and breakfast with a cozy fireplace where everyone can gather around. These types of places often offer package deals; you can get married and have your reception in one location, and to top it off, you and your guests can stay there as well.

Many historic mansions have ballrooms and dining halls which can double as wedding ceremony and reception space. These types of places sometimes have large windows, which have great views of the surrounding area. Windows such as these can provide a stunning backdrop if there is snow on the ground when your wedding takes place.

If you live in the south, where it is relatively warm during the winter, why not go ahead and hold your wedding outdoors? Parks make lovely wedding locations. Decorate with lots of white flowers and provide your wedding party with warm enough wedding attire. Just be sure to let your guests know beforehand so they may dress accordingly.

Museums, cabins, old theatres, the penthouse of a high-rise building, and even your own home all make terrific winter wedding locations. Check ahead to inquire about decorations that may already be out around the holidays and make sure your venue has plenty of heating so your guests are comfortable.
