During weak economies, mergers and acquisitions tend to be on the rise. To that end, there is no better time then the present to equip a firm with industry veterans to seek out and execute potential deals, as they may start heating up quickly. Wells Fargo (NYSE: WFC), based in San Francisco, and their Wells Fargo Securities group in New York have done just that.
Wells Fargo Securities, the capital markets and investment banking business of Wells Fargo & Company has hired Brian Moon to join the company as a managing director and head of Financial Institutions Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) in the Investment Banking and Capital Markets group. Moon is based in New York and reports to Scott Heberton and Jim Sigman, co-heads of the Financial Institutions group.
Heberton commented “We are very pleased to welcome Brian to Wells Fargo Securities. An outstanding industry professional with more than 18 years of experience, Brian complements our existing team and furthers our goal to grow our investment banking and capital markets products and solutions for the benefit of our customers.”
Moon has a long and distinguished career on Wall Street and in M&A, something that will suit Wells Fargo well as they seek to expand in the space. Moon joined Wells Fargo Securities from Deutsche Bank (NYSE: DB), where he was a managing director and head of Financial Institutions M&A – Americas, executing a broad range of M&A advisory and capital raising activities. Moon also spent several years at Constitution Reinsurance and its parent company, EXOR America, including two years as the executive director of finance reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer of Constitution Reinsurance. Moon is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley.
