iPad Rating Recalibrated By Consumer Reports

Consumer Reports said they did like some things with the iPhone 4, it also warned people that the iPad 3 could get too hot. However, the publication it turns out is a fan of the new tablet from Apple.

The consumer protection publication said that the iPad is so great it had to rework how it will evaluate tablets in the future. The publication lowered all other tablets that had been previously rated as excellent to very good. The magazine said the new Apple tablet is in a league by itself.

On Monday, the magazine released a statement that said, “The iPad has established a new benchmark for excellence.”

The report helped to affirm even further the lead that Apple has in the expanding tablet business. Competitors are doing everything possible to try to close the gap. Google, one of the primary rivals of Apple, is expected to launch a tablet to consumer at some point during the year.

Apple stock increased on Monday by over 3% to close at $618.68. One market report said the stock would break the $1,000 mark.

A couple of weeks ago, Consumer Reports wrote that the new iPad heated up more than its predecessors did. This happened, it wrote, when high memory graphic games were run. However, the magazines said the temperatures were not a concern.

The same review also said the battery lost power even when operating while the tablet was plugged into to an electric outlet. However, tests proved that it only happened when a demanding game was being played with a fully bright screen.
