Forty-three year old One L. Goh, a Korean national, was taken into custody on Monday near a supermarket after he allegedly shot and killed seven people and injured another three. The shooting took place at Oikos University in Oakland, California. Five of died at the shooting scene and two others died at an area hospital. The status of the three injured is still unknown.
According to the Oakland Police, Goh had federal tax liens amounting to tens of thousands of dollars, had a grudge against officials at the nursing college and sustained two family members’ deaths during the past year.
Howard Jordan, the Chief of Police in Oakland said they had learned that Goh was upset with the school’s administration and in the past when he attended the school, he had been mistreated by some of the students. Officials also said Goh had been asked to leave the school months ago because of behavioral problems.
At 10:30 on Monday morning, the first call from 911 arrived. The victim police found was a woman and she had a life-threatening wound. Another set of calls came in mentioning other victims while police were handling the first victim. Police made a perimeter around the building where the victim was found believing the gunman was still inside.
In the building, the officers located victims in a classroom and in other places within the building. The victims were all between the age of 21 and 40 and were one man and six women.
