Madonna Lets Loose On M.I.A.

Pop star Madonna was outdone by M.I.A not very happy about it.

February 11, 2012- Madonna said that the actions of M.I.A. during her performance on the Super Bowl halftime show were teenage. She said she was very disappointed in the way the British rapper caused a major controversy by flipping her middle finger during the show in full view of the camera. Madonna said those kind of antics were not appropriate for such a prestigious event.

In an interview, Madonna said, “I was very unhappy about the incident. I understand its punk rock, but for me there was so much love and positive energy going not that the incident seemed very negative.”

She added, “It’s something that happened, so teenage. It was very irrelevant, and what exactly was the need or point to it? It was out of place.”

Even though Madonna made the comments, she admitted to not knowing about the incident until well after it had happened. She said, “To be honest with you, I did not know it took place. I was not aware it happened until I had left. I was on the elevator when someone told me.”

An apology had already been issued by NBC Sports by the time Madonna had even realized the incident occurred. An NBC spokesman said, “NBC apologizes for the very inappropriate gesture that appeared on air during the halftime show. It was spontaneous and something our delay system caught too late.”
