A union official claims that a contingent of employees has finished making replacement parts to the Chevy Cruze in a General Motors plant at which creation of the auto stopped in March.

The Warren Tribune Chronicle accounts UAW Local 1112 President Dave Green says GM initially estimated that metal stamping of replacement components would continue at the end of June. Green states that work finished.

The idling of the Lordstown assembly plant out Youngstown has resulted in the removal of 1,700 union jobs. Approximately 100 workers stay inside the plant using more layoffs looming.

Green says that the UAW expects GM will agree to deliver a fresh product line through contract talks set to start in June into the plant.
