
Madonna is the star of the 2012 Superbowl half-time show.
December 5, 2011- On Sunday night NBC, which will broadcast this season’s Super Bowl, announced that Madonna would perform at the Bridgestone Americas halftime show. The Super Bowl is the largest watched sporting event in the United States.
The Grammy award-winning entertainer has sold over 300 million records. She will appear at halftime of the big game that will be played in Indianapolis. Madonna will be the key performer in the show that will be broadcast on February 5, 2012 at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Not only is the Super Bowl the most watched sporting event each year but the halftime show is the most watched annual musical event. Over 162 million U.S. viewers watched the Black Eyed Peas, Slash and Usher perform in Dallas at last season’s Super Bowl between the Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers played in February.
Madonna will join a list of great performing stars that have performed on the halftime show. Previous performers include U2, Bruce Springsteen, The Who, Paul McCartney and the Rolling Stones.
Madonna will be sharing the stage with Cirque du Soleil and Moment Factory artists. Madonna is currently recording a new album and will have a new film debut two days prior to the Super Bowl in which she is the director, producer and writer.
