Elton John and his partner were very unhappy that Madonna won a Golden Globe for best song.
January 17, 2012- David Furnish, the husband of Elton John, was not a fan of Madonna before the Golden Globes Awards Sunday night and is even less a fan today. After Madonna received her Golden Globe for Best Original Song, Furnish took to the wireless airwaves to express his displeasure.
Furnish expressed on Facebook that he was not in agreement with her winning best song. Cameras, at the same time, caught John looking quite angry. He was nominated along with Madonna. Earlier in the evening, on the red carpet, John told reporters that Madonna had no chance of taking home the award.
Following Madonna’s long acceptance speech, John’s husband Furnish continued to rant on Facebook.
He wrote, “With Madonna’s win it certainly shows the Golden Globes are not based on merit.”
He added, “What she said during her acceptance speech was an embarrassment.”
He ended his comments with, “Madonna’s criticism of Gaga shows her desperation.”
In an interview for a top magazine last week, Madonna said the new release by Gaga was interesting and said it was a rip off of Express Yourself, the 1989 Madonna hit song.
Madonna did not express any ill will towards John or his husband. She said, “I adore Elton, he is brilliant. He will win again so I am no worried about that.”
