English pop star Adele gave Brit Award viewers the middle finger on TV last night.
February 22, 2012- Adele, the British singing superstar, continued her winning ways Monday night. She received the best album award for 21 at the Brit Awards in London. However, her actions on the show overshadowed her win. The producers of the awards show cut her acceptance speech short so she stuck out her middle finger for all to see.
The show’s producers and the station that broadcast the show all issued official apologies about what happened. Backstage, following the incident, Adele said she stuck out her middle finger but it was directed at the stiff suits running the show and not to her millions of fans.
She said, “I was preparing to thank the British fans for all their support and I got cut off.” She added, “I apologize if my actions offended anyway however, the stiff suits have offended me.”
After the show, the broadcaster, ITV apologized to the British sensation for cutting her off. An ITV statement read, “The show is live and regrettably it was running late and it was necessary to move along.”
The statement concluded by saying, “We apologize to Adele… We did not want to undermine her fabulous achievement in her winning a Brit Award.”
The British singing sensation took home six Grammy Awards last week.
